What to do on your Walt Disney World rest day

If you're planning to be in Disney World for longer than a weekend, I personally will always recommend considering adding a "rest day" or two to your schedule. When I'm in the parks, we are there from rope drop until the fireworks, and that means 25K+ steps, usually park hopping and very few breaks -- plus the Florida heat and humidity is no joke! After two days, I'm typically exhausted, cranky and wanting a reprieve from the heat + the overstimulation. However, it's still vacation and I don't want to spend the day just sitting in my hotel room. Here are a few ideas for ways to spend your non-park days!

Check out the pool and bars at your resort. For some reason, I rarely spend time at the pools! But every time I do, we have an absolute blast! I love to grab a fun drink + my Kindle, and lay out in a chair and people watch. We last stayed at Caribbean Beach, and the main pool + bar were so nice! We also spent time walking the entire property, which was very relaxing.

Do a Character Meal. There are so many great options for character dining at the resorts! Check out O'Hana, Toplolino's Terrace Chef Mickey or Cape May to have a meal with some of your favorite characters!

Resort Hop. I love using part of a rest day to explore a new to me resort, take the monorail or the Skyliner to try new snacks and drinks, or look at the decorations (especially at the holidays!). When we stayed at Caribbean Beach, we walked the entire property, but also explored the Riviera Resort, grabbing coffee and snacks taking it all in. How else will you know where you want to stay on your next trip? :)

Visit Disney Springs. Of course a trip to Disney World isn't complete without a stop at Disney Springs for some shopping and eating! You could easily spend the entire day here, stopping at the Disney Store (of course!) but the hundreds of other locations. We enjoyed the Coca Cola Store and grabbing a drink on the roof, of course eating Dole Whip, cookies at Gideons and just people watching. There's so many great restaurant options (pro tip: many of them are open for reservations on Open Table -- even if they are booked on the Disney app!). We loved Jaleo for a nicer sit-down, and Polite Pig for more fast casual.
Go see a movie, go bowling, or mini golf. There are so many other options to keep yourself occupied on your rest day, you're sure to not be bored!
